Dog Training Classes
Friends for life dog training and it's owner, Dennis Fehling and Pam Bigoni have provided the best dog training I have ever Experienced. I am training my third dog and the first adopted adult dog. She came to me having never been socialized as a puppy and at two years old was afraid of other people and animals. In one month of training with Dennis, she was wagging her tail at strangers, greeting other dogs without being afraid: a much more confident dog. After five months of classes with Friends for life dog training, she passed her Canine Good Citizens class!! We continue to take classes from Dennis and recommend his training school to everyone we know with a dog. Thanks Dennis and and Pam!! Diane and Ray Anderson and thier girl Beaches.
Basic Manners Dog Training Classes - 7 week dog training class to help increase and strengthen the bond between dog's and thier humans while avoiding the rise or reinforcement of unwanted behaviors due to poor human to dog communication. To support the Life Long Goals including how dogs learn, basic needs, handling and focus, situational awareness, working at your dogs level, problem solving.
Please consider the commitment to this class before paying for the class. The class is for 7 weeks and we cannot make any of the classes up as we have specific start and ending dates. It is very important that you attend all of the classes to get the most out of the classes for you and your dog. If you have to miss a class homework will be provided. If you miss two or more of the classes you will be dropped from the class. Thank you for understanding.
The first class is a manners class orientation and is without dogs. The orientation is to set up students to succeed so they are better prepared for the class when they bring the dogs in. The orientation will cover basic learning theory, how to effectively use food, play and praise in training as well as how to use markers like clickers and verbal markers. We also will focus on leash skills and safety at the orientation. The orientation will last about 90 minutes and is required to attend the manners class.
As of today there are no more manners clsses being offered for November and December. We are retiring in February and the November and December classes are full. I will still continue to do private training and my whistle recall class that will start in the spring.
Please note that this is a basic manners class and is not intended to solve serious behavior problems so please call before you register and pay for this class to make sure your dog is a good fit for this class.
Before you sign up for the class please make sure you can commit to each class. Each class builds on the next class so if you miss a class we cannot make it up as we have a specific start and end date.
We do not advocate the use choke chains Prong Collars or Shock collars and do not allow them in our facility. We use positive reinforcement to teach new behaviors and will not teach you how to hurt your dog. Please read this great article on the fallout of using punishment based training methods. Speciality Dog Training Classes and Special Work Shop

Nose work provides an oppourtunity for your dog to have an outlet for their natural hunting and scenting abilities. Nose work engages the dog in the game and teaches the handler how to read their dog and build a team relationship all while having fun. Nose work is a great skill to develop in your dog that can build your dogs confidence. It can reduce environmental sensitivity and provide mental and physical exercise through teamwork with you, their handler. We are building in the dog a desire to search for something we want them to find, a willingness to search for it when we want them to and an ability to communicate to us that they have found it, knowing that there is a great reward at the end of that search.
